In 2013 the Italian Mammal Society (ATIt) collaborated with ISPR to evaluate the species state of conservation and their habitats, using the knowledge of experts in the sector. This evaluation would be inserted in the planned report on the 2007-2012 period as per Article 27 of the Directive.
The evaluation was coordinated by Daniele Paoloni and Cristiano Spilinga, two ATIt members recruited with an internal tender, and by organised meetings with specialists of the different species listed in the appendix 2, 4 and 5 of the Habitat Directive.
