Theriology, i.e. the study of Mammals, is a scientific discipline that can offer a wide range of interests in many fields. We believe it is useful to disseminate information on a website focused precisely on these topics and constantly updated by the fervent activity of numerous researchers, enthusiasts, and lovers of the subject who operate within the ATIt, an Association that has been active in Italy for over twenty years.
The objectives of the Association are the promotion of basic and applied theriological scientific research, the conservation and management of Mammals and their habitats, the dissemination of theriological knowledge, the collaboration with other national and international scientific associations pursuing similar aims, with Museums, Public Institutions, Universities, and Schools.
In these pages you will find information on all topics concerning Italian Mammals (biology, distribution, publications, theses, image databases, conservation projects, laws…).
In addition, in this site you can find news about the activities of the Italian Mammal Society, including the editorial activity of the journal Hystrix, the Italian Journal of Mammalogy.
