The Italian Bat Research Group is affiliated to the Italian Mammal Society since February 1999.

This site is achieved to create a useful instrument and a meeting place for all Italian researchers (but not limited to!) involved in the study and conservation of bats, in a spirit of collaboration and cooperation.

About us

GIRC is a non-profit association founded in February 1999 with the aim of promoting the study and conservation of Chiroptera in Italy.

Its most important aims are:

promoting research on Chiroptera in Italy;
coordinating and promoting actions aimed at the protection and conservation of natural heritage, with particular reference to bats;
representing a national reference point for international organisations in relation to specific bat fauna issues;
coordinating and promoting activities aimed at divulgating correct information on the biology of Chiroptera.

All GIRC members work actively in the field of research, conservation and environmental management and divulgation, in order to pursue these goals.
